Your scripts and code are research outputs in their own right: without them, research results are difficult to verify and reproduce. Yet research software is often poorly documented, shared or cited. This webinar introduces the essential practices for managing and publishing research software. Participants will learn how to organise a software repository, prepare a README file, use Git for version control, choose an appropriate licence, create citable software releases with a DOI through Data@UNIMI, and describe software using standards such as CodeMeta and Citation File Format (CFF). The course also explores how to link research software with datasets and publications to support reproducibility and software citation.
Course format:
- Delivery mode: online (Microsoft Teams)
- Duration: 30 minutes
- Schedule: Every two months, on the fourth Friday of the month; morning and afternoon editions alternate. Dates will be available soon
- Language: Italian or English. The course will be delivered in English whenever at least one registered participant does not speak Italian
- Registration: Registration closes at 12 PM on the day before each course. After registration has closed, participants will receive the Microsoft Teams link by email
- Attendance: If you are unable to attend after registering, please let us know and enrol in a later edition. certificate of attendance will be issued to participants upon request.
- Minimum number of participants: 3. If the minimum number is not reached, registered participants will be notified and their registration will automatically be transferred to the next available edition
